Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao said that no decision on forming an alliance against the BJP has been taken by the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and went on to criticise the AAP.

Further, speaking on the taxi issue, the MLA called on the government to resolve the grievances of taxi operators as soon as possible.

Speaking to the media persons at his Varca office on Wednesday, Alemao said, “Till today, we, the NCP have not taken a decision on alliance for the assembly elections yet. I am a secular person and I will want to be with a secular party, if there is an alliance. An alliance and with whom will also be based on what the people want. For the Margao Municipality, I am supporting the candidate Gonzag Rebello as a friend.”

He also criticised other parties in the state.

“Those shouting, whether it is the RG (Revolutionary Goans), AAP or BJP, they are being financed by one person. He is waiting to make entry into Goa and if this happens, the coal will be stored here and it will finish our rivers, waters, tourism and destroy our state. When AAP’s Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia made the Parrikar statement, it proved that they are the BJP’s B team. It was clear when Elvis Gomes and other AAP supporters quit the party that something was not right,” said Alemao.

When asked about his stand on the taxi issue, the MLA called on the government to resolve their issue as soon as possible.

“When I was minister, I had pushed for improvement in tourism and with it the taxi business as it would provide employment opportunities to the locals. Ministers that came after me, however,  gave entry to other players including tour operators and now GoaMiles. One taxi driver has to support his entire family on this business and the rates they charge are fixed by the hotels they are employed by. When they have the hotels to cater to, why are GoaMiles also being allowed to take hotel customers? This needs to be resolved soon,” he added.
