IPL 2021: DC players “concerned” over Rabada’s presence during practice after Nortje tests Covid positive: After South African quickie Anrich Nortje has reportedly tested Covid positive on Wednesday, Delhi Capitals players seems to be a “bit concerned” over the presence of his fellow South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada during their practice session held in Mumbai on Tuesday evening.
“Yes Rabada was there in our net session last evening. We were wondering why Nortje didn’t turn up for practice. Then we heard that his 2nd Covid test report was yet to come so he wasn’t allowed. But it comes to our mind that Rabada was accompanying him all along,” a senior Delhi Capitals player shared his concern on the condition of anonymity.
Another young DC player also confirmed Rabada’s presence saying he was very much there during the practice and had greeted each other on the field. “We said hello to each other. He seemed to be fine and we heard that his Covid reports were negative.”

Insidesport.co has learnt that Rabada’s both Covid reports were negative. But the question arises why Rabada was sent to the practice session in a hurry. When Nortje was prevented from joining the camp, why did his fellow South African who had travelled together with him be allowed to join the practice even though they travelled together from South Africa? Wasn’t it logical and prudent for BCCI and DC to wait till he cleared another or third Covid test?
The official line coming from DC is “Nortje’s test results are awaited and that’s all we are aware at the moment.” But if that was true then why was he not allowed to join the training?
According to ANI, the South African pacer had tested positive while undergoing quarantine.“He came in with a negative report, but has unfortunately tested positive now while undergoing quarantine,” the source told ANI.
For now, a sigh of relief for DC is that Rabada has tested negative in both of his Covid-19 tests. However, a source close to the development said that he will now be monitored very closely. “Rabada’s both reports have come negative which is good news. But who knows he might come positive in the third test. We will monitor him closely,” the source told InsideSport.
According to the information available with InsideSport.co both the pacers had ended their quarantine yesterday.
