Palghar, Apr 14 (UNI) With the arrest of six people, the MBVV (Mira Bhayandar Vasai Virar) police on Wednesday claimed to have solved the case of alleged robbery of around Rs 1.80 lakh last week.
On afternoon of April 7, a collection agent, Santosh Pandey, was proceeding on his two-wheeler after collection of cash of Rs 1,78,900 when four unknown men pushed his vehicle near the Go Ashram at Rajavali on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway.
As he fell down on the road, the robbers allegedly snatched his bag containing the cash and fled away, police said.
Following which, an offence under sections 394 and 34 of Indian Penal Code was registered against unidentified robbers with the Valiv police station.
Acting on intelligence inputs, the Crime Branch arrested the six accused, of whom four were involved in the crime, recently.
The arrested accused were identified as Sambha alias Pintu Rajbhar (30), Rohit Jha (27), Rudresh Sawant (23), Lucky alias Sayyed Firoz Khan (22), Anil Vishwakarma (24) and Siddhartha Singh (27).
The gang was operating on the stretch and targeted the passers-by by knocking them down and robbed them of their belongings, sources added.
Police are now trying to find out if the gang was involved in any more of such crimes in the belt.
