AR Rahman presents special digital concert of ’99 Songs’

Mumbai: Oscar-winning musician AR Rahman has released the 99 Songs Special Concert, a digital show that describes the music of his upcoming film “99 Songs”. He says the initial idea was to perform in every city and university.

‘My initial idea was that I had to go to every city, every university and perform the songs of this movie for you. “Given the times, the least we can do is put on a show with the amazing singers and musicians that are part of the soundtrack,” Rahman said.

“99 Songs” is Rahman’s debut as a screenwriter and producer. The film would appear on the shelves, but is currently being postponed due to the pandemic.

The digital concert streams on JioSaavn’s LIVE Anywhere platform. The 99 Songs Special Concert, which streams in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, unites Rahman with the singers of the film’s soundtrack. The voices include Benny Dayal, Shashwat Singh, Shashaa Tirupati, Vijay Yesudas, Sreekanth Hariharan, Poorvi Koutish, Haricharan and the Sunshine Orchestra. Starring Ehan Bhat, who was trained to be a musician for the film, and director Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy, will also be with Rahman in the sound of the film.

The songs are accompanied by a story told by Rahman, as well as the lyricists Navneet Virk, Dilshaad Shabbir Shaikh and Kalpradah, and the singers.

“’99 Songs’ is the story of one man’s struggle between the old world and the new world. The antidote is music, ”Rahman said when he invited viewers to see the music of the film.

The promotion of the concert is live. It takes place on April 14 on JioSaavn’s LIVE Anywhere platform
