First ‘SPECIAL MANGO EXPRESS’ train launched in Andhra Pradesh

The railways are running special express trains from Vizianagaram as part of its commitment to ensuring an uninterrupted supply of essential commodities.

 The Waltair division of East Coast Railway has started special trains of mangoes from Vizianagaram on Wednesday. The railways is running special express trains from Vizianagaram as part of its commitment to ensuring an uninterrupted supply of essential commodities.

Vizianagaram is the nodal point for the transport of mangoes from north Andhra Pradesh to Adarsh Nagar in the country`s capital Delhi for the transport of mangoes.
The first `mango special` train of this season started with 200 tonnes of mangoes in 11,600 boxes to New Adarshnagar railway station in New Delhi.

In the last financial year, Waltair Division has transported 4350 tons of mangoes in 20 mango parcel special trains.

The senior divisional commercial manager AK Tripathi said that authorities of the Waltair railway division would run special parcel train services by taking into consideration the requirement by the mango traders. Despite the pandemic situation, the Waltair division made all efforts to continue the supply chain of essential commodities.
