—THEFT: Officers are looking into a vehicle break-in in the first block of old Falls Street. A 47-year-old woman told police that sometime between 8:35 and 8:46 a.m. Monday, someone broke into her unlocked vehicle. The victim said her purse was taken from the vehicle.

—ROBBERY: Police are investigating a robbery in the 1200 block of 11th Street at 2:46 p.m. Monday. A 42-year-old woman told officers that she was in the area, when two male suspects ran up behind her and grabbed her canvas bag. The victim said the suspects knocked her to the ground and emptied the contents of her bag on the ground. A motorist, passing by, began honking his horn and the suspects ran away without taking any of the victim's belongings.

—INVESTIGATION: Officers are looking into a suspicious condition in the 600 block of 79th Street. A homeowner found a pentagram, created with an unknown red substance, in his driveway. The pentagram contained a chicken's foot, four candles and a dismembered doll on it. A chicken's foot was also placed in the door handle of a nearby vehicle. The homeowner observed the pentagram at 2 a.m. Tuesday.

—THEFT: Officers are looking into a vehicle break-in in the 1100 block of LaSalle Avenue. A 40-year-old woman told officers that sometime between 5 p.m. Monday and 2:10 a.m. Tuesday, someone broke into her 2003 Ford Expedition by smashing a passenger-side window. The victim said a a touchscreen radio system and the vehicles back-up camera system were taken.

Mark Sanford (R-S.C.) and other Republicans told Politico that "a movement like the Tea Party emerges when people galvanize around ideas. When they galvanize around an individual, they're really just waiting for that individual to act or guide them. Put another way: While the Tea Party exploited a GOP leadership vacuum in 2009, there is a need for a vacuum in 2021." And "that may very well be the gift that Trump has given Biden," Stein said.   • Former classmate arrested in 1996 disappearance of college student Kristin Smart

    Nearly 25 years after 19-year-old college student Kristin Smart vanished while walking back to her dorm, a former classmate, Paul Flores, 44, has been charged with one count of murder in connection with her disappearance. Flores' father, Ruben Ricardo Flores, 80, was also arrested on Tuesday and accused of helping his son dispose of Smart's remains. Smart, a freshman at California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo, disappeared in May 1996 after attending a party. Witnesses said Paul Flores said he would make sure she made it safely back to her dorm, but Smart was never seen again. Classmates described Flores as awkward and unpopular, the Los Angeles Times reports, and during questioning from authorities, he admitted to lying about how he got a black eye. Investigators used search dogs and radar equipment to try to find Smart's body, but her remains have never been discovered. She was declared dead in 2002. San Luis Obispo County Sheriff Ian Parkinson told reporters on Tuesday that new evidence in the case was secured in 2016, and in 2019, after hearing a podcast about the Smart case, witnesses came forward and were interviewed for the first time by authorities. Search warrants were issued for the home of Flores, his father, his mother, and his sister, and during a second search of Flores' home, physical evidence "related to the murder of Kristin Smart" was found, Parkinson said. An attorney for Paul Flores declined to comment, while an attorney for Ruben Flores told the Times his client is "absolutely innocent." Parkinson said police will continue to look for Smart's remains, and in a statement, her family said they hope the arrests of Paul and Ruben Flores will be "the first step to bringing our daughter home." Both SpaceX and OneWeb are in direct competition to establish an infrastructure of satellites that can provide high-speed and low-latency internet access to remote or rural locations around the world that were left behind by traditional cable-based providers. OneWeb, which was founded in 2012, was bought out of bankruptcy in late 2020 for $1 billion in a joint investment by the UK government and Bharti Global, an Indian telecoms company. SpaceX, which was founded in 2002 by Elon Musk, the world's second-richest man and chief executive of Tesla Motors, has already started providing broadband for customers in Britain using its Starlink network of satellites. Starlink has a network of 1,378 satellites operating in low-Earth orbit at an altitude of 550km. By comparison, OneWeb's 148 satellites in orbit operate at a higher altitude of around 1,200km, and as a result have to pass through Starlink's constellation on their way up.
