THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Weekly Covid-19 positive cases in the district have nearly doubled this month as the cases soared from 1,316 in the first week of April to 2,390 in the second week.
Weekly cases have shown a downward slide since the final week of January. The cases came down from 2,793 in the fifth week of January to 1,095 in the second week of March. Since that week, positive cases in the district have been on an upward growth, peaking from 1,095 to 2,390.
In the period between January and April, recoveries have dropped drastically. From 2,390 in the final week of January, it came down to 1,080 by the second week of April.
The weekly positivity rate in Trivandrum has grown from 3.1% in the third week of March to 6.1% by the second week of April.
The district has consistently recorded over 500 daily cases since April 10. There have been more number of positive cases than recoveries since April 7.
The district recorded 579 positive cases on Tuesday. As many as 196 people recovered from the virus and two deaths were confirmed on Tuesday.
At present, 4,232 people are under treatment in the district. On Tuesday, 1,613 people were brought under surveillance in the district. Also, 19,416 persons are under quarantine in the district.
As many as 1,100 people completed observation period without showing any symptoms on Tuesday.
