Nissan Magnite Prices Hiked By Upto Rs 33,000: Third Price Increase In 2021 For The Magnite
Nissan has increased prices of the Magnite in the Indian market. Prices of the Nissan Magnite have been hiked by up to Rs 33,000. This is the third time that Nissan has hiked prices of the sub-compact SUV in 2021.
The Nissan Magnite was launched in the Indian market in December 2020. It immediately became the bestselling product from Nissan in India. Buyers loved the idea of a sub-compact SUV loaded with features, powered by either a naturally-aspirated petrol engine or a turbocharged petrol engine.
Moreover, Nissan had nailed the pricing game. With prices starting at Rs 4.99 lakh and going up to Rs 9.45 lakh (ex-showroom), there was at least one variant to cater to the budget of almost all buyers in the segment. This price was bound to attract buyers from other segments as well, and it did.
However, Nissan has since then increased prices of the Magnite multiple times. The first price hike came in January 2021 and the second one came in March 2021, taking the starting price up to Rs 5.49 lakh. Now, the brand has hiked prices yet again, and it is a sizable hike this time around.
The lowest price increase of Rs 10,000 has been imposed on the base XE variant. The highest increase of Rs 33,000 has been implemented on the XL and XV DT variants. This price hike has pushed the starting price up to Rs 5.59 lakh for the base XE variant and Rs 9.9 lakh for the XV Premium CVT Dual-Tone variant.
Nissan has neither updated the sub-compact SUV's mechanicals, nor does it get any new features. Buyers can choose between a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
The naturally aspirated engine has a maximum power output of 71bhp and a peak torque output of 96Nm. This engine is only available with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The turbo-petrol engine on the other hand puts out 99bhp and 160Nm and can be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. When paired with the CVT, the torque output of the engine drops by 8Nm to 152Nm.
Infotainment is taken care of by an eight-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. A digital display handles instrumentation duties along with a seven-inch TFT MID. It also gets features like automatic AC, ambient lighting, steering-mounted controls, engine start/stop button, wireless smartphone charging, ambient lighting, cruise control, 360-degree surround view cameras, etc.
Thoughts On Nissan Magnite Price Hike For The Third Time In 2021
There is no doubt that the Nissan Magnite is a brilliant sub-compact SUV. It comes packed with features and was launched at an attractive price. Over the last three months however, Nissan has hiked the price up by nearly Rs 60,000.
This is a massive hike in such a short period and is bound to take a toll on sales figures. We will have to wait until this month's sales figures surface to see just how big a toll this has taken.
