CHENNAI: The
Greater Chennai Corporation has administered 10 lakh
vaccine shots as on April 14. The total population of the city is about 80 lakh people, and around nine lakh of them have been vaccinated, said corporation commissioner G Prakash on Wednesday. More than one of them have completed both doses.
"We have enough stock with us. It would last us at least another 15 days. We get new stock once in 10 days. There are 405 vaccination centres across the city including 200 private hospitals and clinics," he said.
He urged the public above 45 years to ensure they get vaccinated as soon as possible. "We will begin extensive door- to-door surveillance. We will also conduct street corner vaccination camps soon. But we want public to make use of this opportunity and get vaccinated soon," he said.
