Still to receive SEC communication on Sputnik V approval: DRL

Hyderabad: Amid reports that the subject committee (SEC) has approved the application of Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories (DRL) has approved Russian vaccine candidate Sputnik V to tackle the Coronavirus pandemic, the city’s company has not yet received official notification of the approval.

“No approval has been received yet. We are still awaiting the SEC statement. As soon as we get something, we will release a statement, ‘a DRL official told IANS on Monday.

He said the SEC should first pass on the recommendation to the Drug Control General of India (DCGI) and then the latter should nod.

The pharmaceutical major expects this process to take a day or two.

When the officer investigated the company’s willingness to manufacture the vaccine in large numbers, he said: ‘we will disclose details when we get input (from SEC and DCGI)’.

This development comes at a time when several Indian states have a severe shortage of vaccines, and it is a positive development.

Meanwhile, dr. Reddy’s dissertation climbed on the rates and responded to the news reports on approval.
