During a review meeting with the heads of departments at the Secretariat, the chief minister said the public should get vaccinated at nearby hospitals. Even as Tamil Nadu reported 6,711 new Covid cases and 19 deaths, officials on Monday warned that Chennai, the worst-hit district, could run out of oxygen beds. For the second day, Chennai reported more than 2,000 cases. Southern Railway begins Covid awareness antics
As Covid-19 cases surge, Covid awareness antics too reappear. Southern Railway's Chennai division held a Covid-19 awareness programme at Egmore railway station on Tuesday, in which an RPF personnel dressed up as a coronavirus performed a play with her colleagues detailing the seriousness of the second wave and distributed masks to passengers.
The day also saw 3,289 people being discharged after recovery, taking the total to 8,84,199, leaving 49,985 active cases. Chennai accounted for most of the new infections with 2,482 cases, taking the aggregate to 2,69,614. (PTI)
