The daily tally of Covid-19 breached all records on Tuesday with the city reporting 13,468 new cases in 24 hours. This is the third-highest in the country, after Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, both of which are much bigger in area and population size than the national capital. Earlier, on Sunday and Monday, Delhi had recorded 10,774 and 11,491 new cases, respectively. The city also recorded 81 deaths due to Covid-19. It is the highest since December 3 when 82 deaths were recorded. Due to the massive rise in cases, the hospitals are overwhelmed. Data on real-time availability of Covid beds shows 64% of the total beds are occupied. The occupancy of Covid ICU beds with and without ventilator stands at 90% and 82%, respectively. Man's body found in bag in Noida drain
The body of an unidentified man was found stuffed inside a luggage bag that was found in a drain in Noida on Wednesday, according to the police. "The bag was spotted in the drain in Sector 14A by locals who alerted the police after which they found the body inside it," an official from Sector 20 police station said.

Delhi: Around 400 people fall sick after eating adulterated kuttu ka aata
Around 400 people from Kalyanpuri area of Delhi were hospitalised at Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital late on Tuesday night with complaints of stomach ache, diarrhoea and vomiting. All the patients, who were admitted to the hospital, are suspected to have consumed adulterated buckwheat (kuttu atta) in dinner.

Amid an unprecedented surge in coronavirus cases in the national capital, Covid-19 ICU beds with ventilators are fully occupied in 69 of 94 hospitals with such facilities and only 79 beds are vacant, according to data shared on an official app on Wednesday. According to the Delhi Corona App till about 2pm, in 75 of the 110 hospitals, all Covid-19 ICU beds without ventilators had patients.

Delhi HC orders release of man from deportation centre
The Delhi high court has ordered the release of a man from 'Sewa Sadan Deportation Centre' Narela, Lampur Village, observing that he has been detained without any legal cause, occasion, or justification. "In view of the facts and circumstances elaborated hereinabove, it can clearly and unequivocally be held that man is being detained by the official respondents without any legal cause, occasion or justification; and in gross violation of the procedure established by law," the court said. Municipal corporations gear up to handle emergency as deaths rise
To deal with any emergency situation, Delhi’s three municipal corporations have planned to convert some of their crematoriums, burial grounds and cemetery as dedicated facilities for Covid-19 bodies. East Delhi Municipal Corporation is likely to use the Jawala Nagar and Geeta Nagar cremation grounds for Covid-19 victims in case the number of fatalities goes up. Extortion racket busted in Delhi, 3 arrested
Delhi Police have arrested three women for filing a false complaint of molestation against a 61-year-old man and allegedly asking extortion money to withdraw the case from him in Delhi's Moti Nagar. According to the police, a complaint of molestation was registered against Dinesh Chand Mahajan, 61-year-old for allegedly molesting the complainant Kiran. On being suspicion upon the complainant, an initial inquiry was conducted and it was revealed that the complainant has made false and fabricated allegations to extort an amount of Rs 10 lakh from Mahajan.
