Dhanbad admin installs 910 beds for Cov patients

Sindri: The Dhanbad district administration has installed 910 beds, including 82 ICU ones, for Covid-19 patients, deputy commissioner Uma Shankar Singh said on Monday. “Of the 910 beds, 775 general beds and ICU ones have been set up in government-run hospitals and Covid care centres while 75 beds, which includes 22 ICU beds, have been installed at private facilities,” she added.
He further said, “The second wave of the virus is spreading fast and resultantly, infecting more number of people and this time, we are finding more and more patients requiring oxygen. The administration has made oxygen concentrator machines available to all those Covid centres that do not have ICU to reduce the pressure at facilities that have ICU.”
Dhanbad at present has 485 active cases and in the past one week, as many as 182 people have recovered, he added.
A tele-medicine studio has also been set up in the Dhanbad circuit house to provide medical and psychological support to patients admitted at the Covid centres. “Doctors advise the patients twice a day through video conferencing. The doctors go through the patients’ medical history and accordingly, recommend medicines to them,” Singh said.
He added, “The district administration has also got a mobile app developed to those patients who are in home isolation. While the doctors keep tabs on their medical condition and advise them to exercise and gurgle, etc., the patients can seek assistance from the doctors through this app.”
