Chile's Silica Networks completes General Carrera Lake fibre rollout

Chile's telecommunications watchdog Subtel announced that Silica Networks has successfully completed the rollout of a 220km underwater fibre-optic cable in Lake General Carrera, the world's 11th deepest lake. The link is part of the Aysen section of the Fibra Optica Austral (FOA) project to connect the country's southernmost Patagonia region awarded to Silica back in 2019.
