Orlando Pirates head coach Josef Zinnbauer says Thursday's Nedbank Cup quarter-final clash against Mamelodi Sundowns is an opportunity for his squad to measure themselves against the best side in the country.
The two sides will lock horns for a place in the last four of the Nedbank Cup that will see arguably the best two teams in the country this season face-off.
Under the guidance of Zinnbauer this season, Pirates have lifted the MTN8 trophy and advanced to the knockout stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Sundowns are the runaway leaders in the PSL and look on course to defend their crown while also advancing to the knockout stages of the CAF Champions League.
Speaking ahead of their clash, Zinnbauer says they are relishing the opportunity to go up against probably the best team in the country this season.
"This game is good for us, it gives us a chance to measure ourselves against a top team," Zinnbauer said. "It also gives us a chance to measure ourselves against a Champions League team.
"They've played very well in the Champions League group stages and this is good for our players and exposes us to a good experience.
"You have a chance to win in all games, so we're looking forward to this contest. If you win this game, the reward is a place in the semi-final.
"I asked this question to the players where I said, "if you want to go forward [and advance] then you have to win this game.
"You lose, you're out but if you win then we have fun.
"We have nothing to lose, as Sundowns are the favourites in this game.
"At the moment Sundowns have the best team in the league and are also one of the best sides in the Champions League.
"So it will be good for me as a coach to see the reaction of the players to facing a quality side such as Sundowns."
