Apple's iPhone 12 has emerged as the best-selling smartphone around the globe for the month of January 2021. The list is released by Counterpoint Research as part of its Market Pulse report. It covers the top 10 best-selling smartphones and includes an insane six smartphones from Apple.

The top three rank holders include the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro Max, and iPhone 12 Pro. The smallest sibling i.e. iPhone 12 mini sits at the eighth spot in the list. This is not surprising as we usually see Apple's latest-gen offerings dominating the market share. These three phones have accounted for an impressive 71% of overall iPhone sales in January 2021 for Apple. One important reason behind such a strong sale in the month of January because of the slightly delayed-release.

The next two slots in the list have been occupied by the iPhone 11 and Xiaomi's Redmi 9A with a market share of 2% each. Another phone from the Chinese smartphone maker on the list is Redmi 9. It is followed by the Samsung Galaxy A31 and iPhone SE (2020) which take the penultimate and last spot respectively.

The report notes,

"With the 5G network rollouts picking pace, OEMs are launching more 5G devices across various price segments. Even though 5G networks are not yet operational in many regions, OEMs are still launching 5G devices there with many customers preferring a 5G phone to avoid any disruption in their replacement cycle later. 5G is slowly becoming a standard offering and as prices continue to come down, we will see more mid-tier 5G capable smartphones in the bestseller list in the coming months."
