Rupee weakens amid Covid concern, ends at 75.37 per dollar

The rupee traded in the range of 75.04 – 75.53 during intraday trade on Tuesday.

The rupee continued to feel pressure amidst the rising coronavirus cases in the country. The Indian currency ended 31 paise lower at 75.37 per dollar on Tuesday amid buying activity seen in domestic equity markets.

The local unit opened flat at 75.07 against the previous close of 75.05 per dollar. It traded in the range of 75.04 – 75.53 during intraday trade on Tuesday.

The Rupee had dropped past 75 on Monday to a dollar for the first time since August 2020.

Global oil benchmark Brent Crude was trading at 0.96% higher at USD 63.89 per barrel.
