Kia Seltos was a hit in the Indian market when it was first launched. It is the most successful product for Kia Motors. Whereas the Scorpio is one of the most rugged 4×4 SUV with a ladder-frame chassis that is offered in India. It is one of the most successful products from the stable of Mahindra. While there would be several comparison videos of both the SUVs, here is a bit different one. In the video here, the vlogger is performing a drag race between both SUVs. The video has been uploaded by Arun Panwarr on his YouTube channel.
The first drag race that happens between the SUV is won by the Scorpio. The Scorpio had the lead from the starting of the race. However, the vlogger says that the Seltos might have gone ahead because the Scorpio driver used the brakes.
Then the second drag race happens in which the Scorpio is ahead when the drag race starts. However, the Seltos catches the Scorpio when the fourth gear is equipped at around 140 kmph. Then both the vehicles slow down and the Seltos wins the race.
In the third drag race, the Seltos takes the lead and keeps it till the end. In the fourth round, both the SUVs are neck and neck and then the Seltos overtakes the Scorpio, winning the fourth drag race.
Talking about the specs of both the SUVs. The Scorpio in the race is more powerful as it is powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that produces 140 PS of max power and a peak torque output of 320 Nm. It comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
On the other hand, the Seltos in the race is powered by a much smaller 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 115 PS of max power and a peak torque output of 250 Nm. It also comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Despite being less on power the Seltos won three of the four drag races. In terms of price, the Seltos diesel costs less than the Scorpio diesel. The Seltos costs Rs. 10.35 lakhs ex-showroom whereas the Scorpio with mHawk 140 starts at Rs. 12.67 lakhs ex-showroom.
