Mahindra launched the all-new Thar SUV in the market last year. It quickly became popular among buyers for several reasons. The SUV now has a very long waiting period and Mahindra has already increased the production to meet these demands. Mahindra group recently announced that its recently launched all-new Mahindra Thar has crossed 50,000 bookings. Mahindra has achieved this in the first six months of the launch. Mahindra Thar is currently the most affordable 4×4 SUV one can buy in India. Mahindra has fast-tracked the process of increasing production capacity both at its Nasik facility and at the supplier-end to meet the demand for the All-New Thar and reduce the waiting period for customers.

Mahindra Thar is a proper 4×4 SUV. In comparison to the older generation Thar, the new one has improved a lot. The all-new Mahindra Thar looks a lot more civilised and drives well both on and off the road. It is wider and longer than the older version and offers more space on the inside. Mahindra has also started offering features with the new Thar which not available with the SUV even as an option before. It now gets a multi-function steering wheel, cruise control, touchscreen infotainment screen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, roof mounted speakers. Both touchscreen and the speakers are drizzle resistant.
Mahindra Thar is available in three versions. There is a soft top, soft top convertible and a hard top version offered in the market. Mahindra is is offering a factory fitted hard top for the first time and it is available with top-end LX trims only. Mahindra initially launched a 6-seater version with side facing seats for rear passengers but, after the Global NCAP crash test, the 6-seater versions were discontinued due to safety concerns. The Thar is now available with front facing seats for rear passengers as standard. Mahindra Thar achieved a 4-star rating at Global NCAP crash test.
The all-new Mahindra Thar is available in AX and LX trims. The AX is the base whereas the LX is the top-end trim. Mahindra Thar is now available with both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol version of the Mahindra Thar is available with a 2.0 litre mStallion turbo petrol engine that generates 150 Bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. The petrol engine is available with manual and automatic gearbox options. The diesel version of the SUV is powered by a 2.2 litre turbocharged mStallion engine that generates 130 Bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. The diesel verison is also available with both manual and automatic gearbox options. Both petrol and diesel version also come with 4×4 transfer case as standard. There is no 4×2 version of Mahindra Thar on offer.
