CM Uddhav Thackeray imposes ‘Section 144’ across Maharashtra: says “I will not term this as lockdown”
CM Uddhav Thackeray in his live conference on Tuesday ordered strict restrictions and imposed section 144 in the state that will come into effect from 8pm tomorrow.

Maharashtra government in its attempt to curb the novel Coronavirus announced the new guidelines across the state. On Tuesday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray conducted a live conference through social media and said that the state’s battle to overcome the pandemic is long and challenging.
He ordered a slew of strict restrictions and imposed section 144 across the state that will come into effect from 8 pm tomorrow. He further requested the masses to not term this as a lockdown.
“We are imposing strict restrictions which will come into effect from 8 pm tomorrow. Section 144 to be imposed in the entire state from tomorrow. I will not term this as lockdown,” Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray said in a live conference on Tuesday.

The Maharashtra Chief Minister further clarified the restrictions that will be imposed across the state since Wednesday and mentioned the list of services available in the state.
In his address on Tuesday, CM Uddhav Thackeray maintained that local trains, bus services will be available for ‘essential services only’. He further added that petrol pumps, financial institutions associated with SEBI and construction work will continue; however, restaurants can only provide takeaway or home deliveries.
“Local train and bus services for essential services only, petrol pumps, financial institutions associated with SEBI and construction work to continue, hotel/ restaurants to remain closed only take-away, home deliveries allowed,” CM Uddhav Thackeray said on Tuesday.

Maharashtra has reported the highest number of Covid-19 cases for weeks. On Sunday, the state reported 63,294 infections – the highest ever – but the cases dropped to 51,751 on Monday, apparently due to fewer tests over the weekend.
Meanwhile, Mumbai reported 7,898 new positive cases and 26 deaths, taking the total number of cases to 5,35,017.
