New Google Meet feature to let you continue with your meetings even in low battery
It could be quite nightmarish to think that you run out of battery while giving a presentation on Google Meet and you have no power source to connect your device. Also, you may feel anxious that your laptop or smartphone may not have adequate battery life to last you the entire Google Meet call while you are on-the-go.
Considering the concerns around low battery life, Google is introducing a new ‘saver mode’ that will allow you to continue with your meeting when your device is running low on battery or you may be facing connectivity issues.
The new saver mode will restrict data and power consumption on Google Meet while you are on a call. The feature is being rolled out gradually and you will soon see it under the Settings menu. However, you have to turn on the saver mode before joining a meeting. Note that you may witness a drop in quality of video calls when you turn on this feature.
Here’s how to turn on data and power saver mode on Google Meet
Google says that you can use the saver mode to restrict data, conserve battery and decrease the power needed for the CPU. To turn on the feature, follow these steps:
-Open the Meet app
-Tap Menu
-Go to Settings
-Turn on Limit data usage
-Join a video call.
Meanwhile, Google has announced that it is extending the limit to offer Google Meet calls for up to 24 hours free till June 2021. The company had earlier extended the unlimited Meet calls for free users till March 31.
