Very tragic.
I don’t know the exact events leading up to this, my understanding is the officer saw the assault rifle and asked if they could put it somewhere else for both of their safety, but how that ended up with the suspect handling the firearm is beyond me. Maybe the officer wasn’t aware that when the murderer exited the vehicle that he had the rifle.
I can’t imagine the officer told the suspect he could bring the rifle to the back, and being that he was the target of an investigation? Awareness is critical.
Very tragic however.
