Birbhum Trinamool president Anubrat Mandal has expressed anger over the commission in protest of the incident. “The Election Commission is behaving like a blind dictator. I can’t see the provocative remarks of the BJP leaders. Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee has been banned from campaigning for 24 hours! I have voted a lot in my life, but I have never seen such a commission or commissioner,” he said.
Not only Anubrat Mandal, but also Kunal Ghosh, Derek and Bryan have protested against this incident. In the words of Derek and Bryan, ‘this is the black day of democracy’. On the other hand, Kunal Ghosh said, “Attempts are being made to silence. The Election Commission is in fact a branch of the BJP.”
According to the commission, the decision was taken against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on charges of distributing votes on the basis of religion, encircling the central forces in charge of conducting elections and misleading voters. The commission said the response to the allegations was unsatisfactory. However, the commission also sent notices to BJP’s Dilip Ghosh and Shuvendu Adhikari for their controversial remarks on Tuesday. Besides, the commission imposed a ban on Rahul Sinha for the next 48 hours.
