PANAJI: Goa reported 476 cases and 231 recoveries on Monday, pushing the count of active cases to 4,564. The case
positivity rate was at 20.8%. With two mortalities, the toll rose to 851.
With the steady rise in cases, the number of hospital admissions had gone up.
Over the past 24 hours, 68 patients were hospitalised and 246 home-isolated. Goa’s daily average of new infections over the eight days has risen to 464.
The state has thrown open its Covid-care facilities after the spurt in cases. The government has initiated the process to expand the bed capacity at the South Goa district hospital (SGDH) to 500 beds.

“We shall be requisitioning additional staff at SGDH along with a shuttle service for consultants and doctors from GMC. I have also instructed them to ensure that all
primary health centres and community health centres are equipped with protective gears to ensure optimum safety while they interact with patients,” Rane said.
Additionally, 108 ambulances will be stationed at the ESI hospital and SGDH for patients referred for CT scan, he said.
“Our team is working towards ensuring that we are fully equipped and are able to manage rising cases in the state,” Rane said.
For yet another day, the Porvorim primary health centre reported a huge jump and the caseload rose to 499 followed by Margao urban health centre with 466.
These two centres have the highest cases. Ponda has seen a high growth in new infections and on Monday, its tally rose to 340.
