Gutka worth Rs 70.48 lakh seized in Thane

Thane, Apr 13 (UNI) The MBVV (Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar) Police on Tuesday seized banned gutka worth Rs 70.48 lakh from a vehicle on the Mumbai-Gujarat highway and arrested one person in this connection.
A joint team of the Central Crime Unit and Cyber Cell of the MBVV Police spotted the vehicle passing through the highway and gave it a chase between Fountain Hotel and Delhi Durbar and finally caught it midway early this morning, police said.
During search of the vehicle, police found gutka of different brands collectively worth Rs 70.48 lakh.
Police seized the stock and arrested one person in this regard.
An offence under various sections of Indian Penal Code and the Food & Drugs Administration regulations have been registered with the Kashimira police station against the arrested accused, sources added.
