Joining Maharashtra for 15 days from 14 April: Thackeray

Mumbai: The Maharashtra government announced a 15-day live evening watch on Tuesday, April 14 amid the increase in coronavirus cases in the state.

The curfew rule, which excludes essential services, will take effect on Wednesday from 8pm, Prime Minister Uddhav Thackeray said in his speech via social media to people from the state.
Thackeray said section 144 (prohibition orders) of the Criminal Procedure Act is in force until the “restrictive” restrictions apply.

He refrained from describing the new curbs as a closure. There is a shortage of medical oxygen and beds and the demand for Remdesivir has increased in Maharashtra, he said. He added that the center should help provide oxygen for coronavirus patients in the state using air force aircraft.

‘The war against coronavirus started again, ”he said. Maharashtra’s health infrastructure is under severe pressure due to the increase in the country COVID-19 matters, he added.

The state government will provide three kilograms of wheat and two kilograms of rice free of charge to each poor and needy person over the next one month while the coronavirus-induced restrictions are in place, Thackeray said.
