PANAJI/POINGUINIM: As part of the Tika Utsav, 8,770 doses were administered on Monday. Of this, 2,261 people were vaccinated at village-level camps conducted over the last two days. The mass vaccination drive will go on till Wednesday.
As of Monday, a total of 1,81,238 doses have been administered with 32,967 people getting both doses.
Dr Rajendra Borkar, district immunisation officer, said they will have more camps at the village-level to expedite the vaccination process.
The new list of villages will be released shortly.
The directorate of health services has to ensure that villages have adequate infrastructure to conduct vaccination camps besides mobilising people in required numbers with a minimum of 100 doses being administered at the end of the day.
On Monday, most villages where camps were held achieved 100 vaccinations with some vaccinating over 200 people in a single day.
The directorate of health services aims to vaccinate three lakh people by the end of next month.
At Poinguinim, 300 beneficiaries, including senior citizens received their first dose. These comprised 151 males and 149 females.
The health team was led by health officer of the Canacona health centre (CHC) Dr Jose Tavares and his team.
Among those who received the first dose were 62 males above 60 years and 89 males above 45, while 53 women senior citizens participated.
The next camp will be held at Kho Khola on 14 April.
