Lucknow, Apr 12 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh on Monday reported 13685 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours, according to the state government data.
Besides, 72 people also died due to the virus. There are now 81876 active cases in the state.
On Sunday, the state recorded highest ever 15353 fresh cases in a day and death toll too was 67.
Vikas Tripathi, Chief Standing Council of Allahabad High Court, was among the 67 people who died due the virus on Monday.
After the Allahabad High Court Chief Justice got infected with the virus on Saturday, two more judges were tested positive for the virus on Monday.
State capital Lucknow continued to be the most-affected city in the state, followed by Varanasi and Prayagraj.
There are 3892 fresh cases in Lucknow while 21 people died. There are 23090 active cases in Lucknow alone. In the last 24 hours, 1417 new ones have been found in Varanasi, 1295 in Prayagraj, 716 in Kanpur and 474 in Gorakhpur. A total of 15 deaths were reported in Prayagraj and five in Kanpur.
Apart from these five cities, 336 in Meerut, 267 in Jhansi, 239 in Noida, 230 in Ballia, 187 in Ghaziabad, 186 in Bareilly, 173 in Moradabad, 156 in Ghazipur, 156 in Banda, 151 in Rae Bareli, 145 in Chandauli, Jaunpur. 137 new infections have been detected in 137, 135 in Lalitpur, 135 in Deoria, 134 in Muzaffarnagar, 129 in Mathura, 119 in Mirzapur, 113 in Sonbhadra, 112 in Agra, 108 in Sultanpur, 105 in Etawah and 102 in Saharanpur fresh cases were also reported.
Barring Kasganj and Hathras in the state, the number of new infected in the other districts is more than double. Eight new infections are reported in Kasganj and six in Hathras. There is no such thing in 75 districts of the state, where the second wave of corona virus infection is not wreaking havoc every day.
Meanwhile, Vikas Chandra Tripathi, Chief Permanent Advocate (CSC) of Allahabad High Court , appointed by Uttar Pradesh government, died at SGPGI Lucknow. He succumbed to corona infection. Vikas Chandra Tripathi (70) was the nephew of Kesarinath Tripathi, former Governor of West Bengal.
Two judges of Allahabad High Court have also infected with the virus. Congress leader PL Punia is also Corona positive. The reports said that Punia's son, daughter-in-law and his wife are also tested positive.
