Hyderabad: AAs part of the expansion of the joint CCTV camera network in the Rachakonda Commissariat, another 154 cameras were inaugurated under the Malkajgiri police station on Monday.
Malkajigiri MLA Mynampally Hanumanthu Rao inaugurated the cameras in the presence of Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat. The cameras are installed at a cost of 37.8 lakh and will be connected to the control room. They are installed in strategic locations that cover the access and exit points, main routes and crime-prone areas of localities.
Officials said 2,007 community surveillance cameras and 30,894 cameras had been installed under the ‘Nenu Saitham’ initiative so far below the boundaries of the Malkajigiri division.
Bhagwat said at the event that CCTV cameras help with the recovery of stolen material 100 percent, including in cases where chain is stolen, while nearly 70 percent of the crimes are detected using CCTV recordings.
Malkajigiri DCP Rakshitha K Murthy, ACP Shyam Prasad, SHO Malkajigiri Jagadiswar Rao and others were present.
