Ministers welcome performance review call by Naveen

BHUBANESWAR: Day after chief minister Naveen Patnaik wrote to his ministerial colleagues about performance review of various departments from May 15, the ministers said the move would help in strengthening and improving governance.
The ministers are gearing up to hold meetings with senior officers of their respective departments to prepare the list of important achievements of respective departments as asked by the chief minister.
“Performance review of departments is an annual affair as we believe in delivering what we have promised to the people. Whatever assignments have been given to me by the chief minister during the pandemic, I have delivered sincerely. I will present the achievements of our department,” labour minister Susanta Singh said.
Singh, who also holds the crucial rural development department, said his ministry has prepared a massive plan to ensure rural road connectivity to all habitations by 2024 for which survey and other works have already been completed.
State planning and convergence minister Padmanabha Behera, who also holds the transport and commerce department, said several programmes have been undertaken by the department, which will be presented before Naveen.
“The annual performance review is undoubtedly a progressive step by the chief minister. It will strengthen governance and improve the system. Since we are accountable to the people, they should know about our performance,” said Behera.
