Kerala Minister moves HC against Lokayukta Order, plea to taken up on April 13

Kochi, Apr 12 (UNI) Kerala Minister for Higher Education K T Jaleel on Monday moved the High Court to grant a stay on the order of Lokayukta for preventing further action after the it found him guilty of abuse of power and nepotism.
A division bench of the High Court headed by Justice P B Sureshkumar will take up his petition on Tuesday.
The Lokayukta found Jaleel guilty of abuse of power, favouritism, nepotism and violation of Oath of Office and ordered that he should not continue to hold the post held by him as a Member of the Council of Ministers.
Mr Jaleel has observed that the order against him is illegal as the Lokayukta had directed the Chief Minister to dismiss him from the Cabinet which will not have legal validity.
The Lokayukta will hand over a copy of the verdict to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's office and he is expected to take action on the order after receiving the copy.
The findings by Lokayukta division bench comprising Justice Cyriac Joseph and Upa Lokayukta Harul Ul Rashid was based on a complaint against the Minister, stating that he misused his office to
appoint his relative K T Adeeb as General Manager in Kerala State Minorities Development Finance Corporation.
