Kolhapur, Apr 12 (UNI) In a communication to the Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition, the BJP on Monday expressed aversion to the CM Uddhav Thackeray’s thought of imposing a lockdown to contain the COVID’s rapid rise across Maharashtra.
In a virtual message to CM Thackeray, state BJP chief Chandrakant Patil asked to strike off the lockdown option rather focus on strengthening the medical infrastructure.
Since last Saturday, the tripartite coalition is holding meets along with the opposition BJP to discuss the practicality of imposing a lockdown.
However, there is difference of opinion on the matter not just with the BJP but also within MVA as some leaders have expressed coldness towards making lockdown a reality.
But, the CM is firm in his thought that the raging pandemic can only be brought under control with stringent curbs on trade and public movement.
In the same regards, Mr Patil said that lockdown does not means an end to the COVID-19. Instead, the health system in every district should be strengthened, he urged.
He asked to focus on testing and tracing strategy, solving the bed-crisis and deploying final year medical students to make up for the shortage of manpower.
Lastly, he suggested the MVA to give responsibility to the district collectors for tackling the dearth of remdesivir drug.
