- Spinner George Linde asked Proteas fans to remain "patient" as the side adopts a new game plan.
- Man-of-the-match Linde revealed that the Proteas had set out a trap for Pakistan opener Mohammad Rizwan.
- Linde delivered a brilliant all-round display, taking three wickets, three catches and scoring an unbeaten 20.
Proteas spinner George Linde pleaded for patience as South Africa adopt a new game plan following their win in the second T20 against Pakistan.
Monday's victory at the Wanderers saw South Africa level the four-match T20I series 1-1, with the third T20 scheduled for Centurion on Wednesday.
Linde took three for 23 and held three catches in the deep to help restrict Pakistan to 140/9 after the visitors had opted to bat first.
Aiden Markram continued his fine form as he scored his second consecutive fifty with the Proteas completing the run chase with six wickets in hand.
It was a welcome victory for the Proteas, who haven't had the most successful summer - winning four of 11 matches in 2021.
The Proteas are currently hit with injuries and also without five players who are currently at the Indian Premier League tournament.
Playing in only his fifth T20I, Linde acknowledged the flak the Proteas have received of late but insists that they've got things under control.
"With sport, you'll always get abuse and it doesn't matter what you do. All I can ask for is that all South Africans just to be patient, we've got this," Linde, who also scored an unbeaten 20, told reporters on Monday.
"Obviously, there's a lot of new guys, we just need a little bit of time and experience, and I can promise you we're going to scare teams."
Many were surprised when Mark Boucher named an unchanged side following their four-wicket loss on Saturday.
However, the Proteas had a game plan from ball one when Pakistan opener Mohammad Rizwan fell into Linde's trap.
"I'm glad he came down the wicket, we tried to play with his arrogance a little bit, I'm not saying he is arrogant but we tried to force a pull shot out of him. That was the plan,' said Linde.
"It worked in our favour so we were very glad to see the back of him because he has been unbelievable."
Rizwan, who scored an unbeaten 74 in the first T20, advanced down the wicket and went for a big hit but only succeeded in skying the ball to Markram.
Boucher has stated that the Proteas will be playing "aggressive but smart cricket" and their win at the Bullring showcased that as they won with six overs to spare.
And Linde says that the Proteas' game plan is there to prepare them for various situations heading into October's T20 World Cup in India.
"We've got a game plan going towards the World Cup so we're trying to buy into that," said Linde.
"If we can play that type of cricket now and leading to the World Cup, we'll know how to go about various things. We've come up with this game plan and we're going to stay with it."
Play on Wednesday starts at 14:30.
