Hyderabad: Verizon India, GHMC to provide legal identity to 5k street children

Hyderabad: In an effort to secure more than 5,000 children in the city’s legal identity, global technology giant Verizon (India Unit) in partnership with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Monday launched the ‘Making #TheInvisibles Visible through Legal Identity’ initiative send.

The step was taken to ensure a life of dignity and respect for the children in street situations (CiSS) in Hyderabad by ensuring a legal identity and thus gaining access to their rights as rights.

The year-long project will ensure that these children have a legal identity document that enables them to be visible in government records. This will allow them to use schemes for which they are eligible for their general well-being and future growth, reads a press release.

The project brings together several stakeholders (State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights, District Child Protection Unit, Department of Women and Child Welfare, Child Welfare Committees, Youth Police Unit – Hyderabad Police and other civil society organizations) on a common platform make an impact on these lives.
