VKontakte faces fine for not removing posts said to invite public protests

Russian social network VKontakte said regulator Roskomnadzor has transferred to a court a suit concerning posts with link to videos on YouTube. The social network is accused of not removing in a timely fashion eight posts inviting public protests. On 01 February, a law obliging social networks to remove prohibited content on their own initiative entered into force in Russia. Fines on the matter could run to RUB 4 million per unit of such content.
