Telangana Forest Department has decided to set up ‘Eco-Tourism Hub’ and ‘Community Forest Reserve’ at SRSP backwaters for improving tourism and for protecting wildlife and migratory birds.
Telangana Chief Conservator of Forest (CCF) R Shobha recently visited the SRSP backwaters at Gangadda Nadukuda village of Nandipet mandal in Nizamabad district. She said that SRSP backwaters are a natural habitat for blackbucks and migratory birds.
The Forest Department’s proposal to develop the area as an eco-tourism hub will also assist in creating income for the locals. A proposal has been sent to the government for this and discussions are being held with revenue and irrigation officials.
Nizamabad DFO Dr. Sunil S Hiramath said that almost 3,500 acres of SRSP land are available in the Nizamabad district. After getting permission from the Central and State government, the Forest Department will build the eco-tourism hub and community forest reserve in the district.
