PATNA: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Monday asked the state government officials to work in mission mode to achieve the targets fixed under different development schemes.
Presiding over the 8th governing body meeting of the Bihar Vikas Mission (BVM) at the CM secretariat’s ‘Samvad’ auditorium here, he also called for taking all necessary steps to increase the capacity of milk processing in the state.
Addressing the meeting through videoconferencing, the CM further asked the officials to work fast on the decision taken for increasing the number of women milk cooperative societies across the state to enhance the production of milk.
“Work in the direction of improving the breed of cows through artificial insemination while keeping in mind the state’s climate. Another aim is to improve the breed of indigenous cows,” Nitish told the officials. He also asked them to work for improvement of facilities at different Gaushalas.
The Mission was formed in January 2016 for proper implementation and monitoring of the schemes under the ‘Saat Nischay’ (Seven Resolves) programme of the erstwhile Grand Alliance government headed by Nitish Kumar. But even after Nitish returned to the NDA in July 2017, he continued with the Saat Nischay programme, and thus, the Bihar Vikas Mission continued to operate and monitor the development scheme.
While reviewing the schemes of agriculture sectors, CM said the state government had so far framed three agriculture road maps in the state. “The implementation of schemes as per the agriculture road maps has caused sharp increase in the production and productivity of different crops,” he said.
The CM further asked the officials to review the remaining period of the third agriculture map (2017 to 2022) to “find out what we have achieved and what should be done to complete the remaining works within the stipulated time frame.”
He further asked the agriculture officials to hold meetings with farmers and experts and take their valuable feedback before embarking on the preparation of a draft for the next agriculture road map.
He also stressed the need to increase production of fishes in the state.
Both deputy CMs Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi, agriculture minister Amarendra Pratap Singh, Animal and fisheries resources minister Mukesh Sahmi, advisor to the CM Anjani Kumar Singh and many senior officials were present at the meeting, while ministers and additional chief secretaries/ principal secretaries of other departments joined the meeting through videoconferencing while following the covid-19 guidelines.
