CUDDALORE: The Cuddalore all-woman police on Sunday arrested three men aged between 19 and 21 years on charges of sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl over a period of six months and launched a hunt for two others involved in the crime.
The police said the girl was staying in her uncle's house in Cuddalore town and attending online classes as her father was working as a daily wage earner in Chennai while her mother, residing in a different part in the district, was taking odd jobs.
The police said five people in the town limits had been sexually abusing the girl for the past six months whenever she was alone in her uncle's house. The sexual assault came to light after the girl's health condition deteriorated. Her uncle inquired about her poor health and was shocked to learn that a few local men had been sexually abusing her. He lodges a police complaint.
The police registered a case against the five people under Section 5 (l) (whoever commits penetrative sexual assault on the child more than once or repeatedly) and Section 6 (punishment for aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, 2012 and arrested N Dheena, 21, S Vignesh, 19, and V Honestraj, 21. The trio were remanded in judicial custody.
The police launched a hunt for two others - Ranjith and Raga alias 'Bramma' Raga -- involved in the crime.
