The Universe Boss required just one six to reach the feat. Overall, the West Indies batsman is the only batsman to hit 1000 maximums in T20 cricket.

The left-handed batsman also holds the record of most sixes in an innings, Gayle had slammed record 17 sixes in an innings against PWI in IPL 2013.
Gayle has amassed over 4800 runs in the IPL and is the second-highest run-getter among overseas player in the IPL. He is only behind Sunrisers Hyderabad opener David Warner, who has scored 5254 runs.
The 41-year-old scored 40 runs off 28 balls, which included 4 boundaries and 2 sixes.
“Chris Gayle is here, let’s hope tonight he can bring on a storm and entertain everyone,” Nicholas Pooran had said ahead of the toss.

In the match, Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson on Monday won the toss and opted to field first against Punjab Kings in game four of the Indian Premier League (IPL) here at the Wankhede Stadium.
For Punjab Kings, there are three debutants as Riley Meredith, Jhye Richardson, and Shahrukh Khan have been named in the final playing XI. Universe Boss Chris Gayle handed out a cap to Shahrukh Khan.
