Virus tally in Punjab: 3,294 more positive, 58 die

CHANDIGARH: Punjab recorded 3,294 fresh cases of Covid-19, while the virus claimed 58 lives on Saturday.
As many as 10 persons died in Hoshiarpur, seven in Gurdaspur, six each in Jalandhar and Ludhiana, five in Amritsar, four in Patiala, two each in Bathinda, Moga, Mohali, Pathankot and Tarn Taran, and one each in Fatehgarh Sahib, Kapurthala, Sangrur and Nawanshahr.
Mohali recorded the highest of 413 cases, while 407 people were tested positive in Jalandhar, 389 in Ludhiana, 306 in Amritsar, 282 in Patiala, 185 in Bathinda, 182 in Hoshiarpur, 130 in Faridkot, 127 in Gurdaspur, 117 in Kapurthala, 106 in Ferozepur, 100 in Ropar, 93 in Fazilka, 87 in Pathankot, 68 in Sangrur, 56 in Mansa, 55 in Fatehgarh Sahib, 52 in Tarn Taran, 40 in Muktsar, 25 in Nawanshahr and 18 in Barnala.
Under the ongoing vaccination drive, 1,51,638 doses of the Covid vaccine were administered across the state on Saturday, the highest in a single day so far. Of the total, 1,42,970 eligible beneficiaries were given the first shot and 8,668 received their second dose.
A total of 1,23,786 beneficiaries in the category of 45 years and above were vaccinated with the first dose, while 3,279 received their second dose. A total of 19,184 healthcare and frontline workers were given the first dose, while 5,389 received their second dose.
