AP reports 3,495 new COVID cases, 9 fatalities

Vijayawada, Apr 11 (UNI) The spike of fresh cases of Coronavirus continued in Andhra Pradesh without any respite as 3,495 new cases were reported on Sunday along with 9 more deaths in a period of 24 hours.

A health bulletin here on Sunday said that 31,719 samples were tested in a period of 24 hours, ending at 9 am on Sunday, out of which 3,495 tested positive for coronavirus. The pandemic claimed nine more lives during the same period in the state taking the total number of coronavirus deaths to 7,300.

Highest number of 719 positive cases was reported in Chittoor district, while Guntur reported 501 cases. The total number of positive cases has gone up to 8,25,401 out of which 8,97,147 have been discharged. There are 20,954 active cases in the state currently. So far 1,54,29,391 samples have been diagnosed in the state.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan appealed to the people of the state to be very cautious about the prevailing situation of COVID-19 pandemic which has posed a great challenge not only to the country but to entire humanity.

He appealed to all eligible persons to get vaccinated as it is absolutely safe to take the vaccine and by taking it people not only save themselves but also others as well.
