Video Shows Black Man Arrested Ahead of 'White Lives Matter' Rally in Huntington Beach: 'You Kidding Me?'

A bystander captured footage of police arresting a Black counter-protester in Huntington Beach, California, on Sunday morning ahead of a promoted and organized so-called "White Lives Matter" rally.

Dozens of Black Lives Matter counter-protesters gathered near the Huntington Beach pier this morning ahead of the planned white nationalist rally, which started around 1 p.m. local time.

In a video shared to Twitter, cops can be seen arresting a Black man wearing a yellow wrap around his head and red T-shirt.

At least 10 officers were present during the arrest. Several of them escorted the man away from the rally and others wielded batons in an attempt to control the angry crowd.

"Are you f***ing kidding me?" one woman yelled in the clip.

@waterspider__, the user who captured the footage, was among several people seen holding cameras toward the police during the arrest. @waterspider__ claimed that the Black male was "arrested for a 'noise violation.'"

Hunting Beach Police Lt. Brian Smith said one counter-protester was arrested for use of amplified sound, according to local news. Smith said a second person was arrested shortly afterwards in a video taken at the scene.

"The first gentleman was being detained and escorted off for a noise violation when the second gentleman interfered and impeded in the officers' duties. He was detained and taken into custody for that and found to be in possession of a metal baton, a knife and two cans of pepper stray," he said.

Newsweek reached out to the Huntington Police to confirm a link between the noise arrest and the footage shared to Twitter, but did not hear back in time for publication. This story will be updated with any response.

Helicopters circled above the crowd as police stood around the rally and counter-protesters. The event is one of dozens scheduled around the country to support the lives of white people.

The Huntington Beach rally was organized by a group called the Loyal White Knights of the KKK on social media, with a mission to "revive the White Racial Consciousness and to unify White People against white hate," according to posts shared on Telegram.

Ahead of the rally, local news reported that flyers containing KKK propaganda were placed in the letterboxes of homes in the Huntington Beach and Long Beach area. Smith previously stated that authorities had no reason to believe that the rally's organizers were responsible for the flyers.

Local police had prepared for the event. Earlier this week, Carrie Braun, a spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff's Department, announced that the department intends to assist Huntington Beach authorities with its regional mounted unit to secure the area.

"That's the extent of our involvement at this time," she said, according to the Los Angeles Times. "We are monitoring open-source information to monitor additional events in our jurisdiction, but at this time we aren't aware of any."
