Climate envoy Kerry may become 1st top Biden official to visit China next week : Reports

Moscow, Apr 10 (Sputnik) US climate envoy John Kerry is expected to travel to China next week in a bid to promote climate as an area of closer cooperation amid rising bilateral tensions, The Washington Post reported on Saturday, citing sources.
According to the newspaper, Kerry will visit Shanghai for meetings with Chinese officials, including China’s special climate envoy, Xie Zhenhua.
The visit could still be called off, a US official told the newspaper on the condition of anonymity.
The Department of State said that it does not have any "travel to announce at this time."
Kerry is now on a tour of Asia. He has already visited the United Arab Emirates, India and Bangladesh. It comes as President Joe Biden is set to host the virtual Leaders Summit on Climate from April 22-23.
