When you listen to this guy after knowing his personal life issues....you can literally feel the pain in his voice, they are pretty damn real. So much emotion in his voice, so much confidence as if he has been at that intersection and dealt with those demons. What better to hear life motivation from than someone who is not only in a psych background but have also traveled through dark areas in their life as well.
Someone aware me on why he is criticized.

I don't know. Sometimes I chalk it up to the internet being the internet, creating ways to turn against someone just cuz. I know some people aren't too fond of him because of his ideas on collectivism, individualism, nationalism, etc. Aside from that, I can't think of any real reason to turn against him.
I mean his daughter is a top skank, so maybe that.

So hate the guy because he doesn't hold the perfect virgin life...logical. If anything all his personal issues have proved is that he is just like you or I and not a robot that spews off propoganda with no basis.
Jeezus if we want to talk about someone who hopped on the propaganda wagon lets talk about Sam Harris. I stopped listening to that D.B because he couldn't keep his mouth shut with his unhealthy obsession with hate for our former president.

Agreed.
Just read a frank Yang post on Jordan Peterson.
Here’s a comment
“I have so much to be thankful for JP, man helped me clean my messy ass room and put my life together. It's for that reason I'm often heartbroken by how much he is suffering. So yeah man fuark, imagine if he took some time to do some Dzogchen and peel back those layers and layers of intellectual rationality. Would be an interesting experiment that's for sure..”
I recently had an argument with a friend over JP.
He said “he’s a hypocrite” said that JP says you can solve problems in your life with inner work but he was just in an addiction center last year.
To me we’re all human and we experience suffering on different levels, and just because someone isn’t at their best 100% of the time doesn’t mean their advice isn’t valid if it’s good advice. We are always going to find ourselves in position where our human imperfections come out/\^/\^ Misc Colorado Crew ^/\^/\

A lot of the people who seem to hate him have not read his book or listened to him and are parroting what gets reported by many media outlets: that he is a misogynist, transphobe etc. and taking stuff like 'tidy your room' too literally without actually reading his book. He does get himself in hot water occasionally due to his academic background like his comment on "forced monogamy" which has a specific meaning in his field and to a general audience sounds like something quite different.
Some of his critics seem (one the face of it) to have have valid points on some areas (eg. those knowledgable about the Soviet Union and Marxism) but these people don't really hate him as far as I can tell. Not sure wtf to think about the meat diet stuff but his family clearly have autoimmune issues running through it and he doesn't promote it to others.
Like you OP, I often wonder wtf when someone like his is championing taking responsibility, telling the truth and getting their house in order as controversial. Thank God he is back though.Last edited by zknarc; Today at 01:32 PM.

Your friend is another example of not getting the full picture either wilfully or not. JP has laid it out in full, the guy suffers depression and was also struggling with his wife having what was thought to be a terminal cancer while taking on a insane schedule. She had further complications and was sliding in and out of being near to death. He took benzos which are widely prescribed in the US (and probably Canada) as they were prescribed to him by a Psychiatrist. These meds can have real issues with dependence and withdrawals which he copped in a big way.
People like to just apply black and white thinking to this and make out like he was railing lines of blow for the lulz.If you can't handle me when I'm incel, you don't deserve me when I'm chad

far too full of himself.
He's come from some difficulty and wants to help people. He's also like 80th percentile and disregards everyone like he's some rare genius. Like a minor league fringe hockey player acting like John Tavares is a waste of his time to compete with.
Power-obsessed fringe people like this tend to grate a little. I could not imagine living next to him. Probably scream at you for making tea in the morning because the caffeine makes you weak based on some 12th century novel he critiqued.

“Oh hello I’m a bloody master of how to live your life and I have thousands of hours of clinical practice as a psychologist and am a professional lecturer. However, I became helplessly addicted to a long-acting benzodiazepine and required experimental treatments that gave me brain damage. Also, buy my latest book on how to live your life.”

In many ways, he is the epitome of what a lot of the Post-Modernist Neo-Marxists HATE.
- He advocates personal responsibility.
- He is against totalitarian / collectivist mindsets
- He uses archetypes and traditions to describe his line of thinking, things post-modernists / Marxists despise and want to be rid of
- His arguments are oftentimes based in logic and raw data, which is a different playing field than the perpetually victimized / emotional
- He easily dismantles his opponents, remaining patient while they try to bait him and act condescending and smug
Now I don't think worshiping the man was ever warranted, but he's definitely a smart dude with great insight, who had free lectures online for YEARS before becoming a target. Intellectuals are among the first targets when brutal authoritarian / totalitarian regimes start taking shape. Usually they get murdered, but we live in the digital age, so people get 'canceled' rather than genocided.
