Mancherial: A girl belonging to a financially backward family from the city of Bellampalli in the coal belt, has been selected as an officer of the Indian Air Force (IAF). She will be a lieutenant once she completes her training.
Gopu Chamundeshwari Devi, a student of the Preparatory Degree College (TSWRAFPDC) for women in social welfare in Bibinagar in Yadadri-Bhongir, scored big points in the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) and gave it a chance.
She is the first student of social welfare institutions to pass the test and achieve the rank of officer in the IAF.
Chamundeshwari’s father, Gopu Vijay Kumar, told Telangana Today that they are overwhelmed and proud to be her parents. “We can not express our happiness in words, and we were delighted after learning the news. She has always performed well in academics and deserves the success, ”he remarked.
Chamundeshwari appears for AFCAT-2020, the results of which were announced in December last year. She qualified for the test and was subsequently interviewed by the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) -Mysore, which recommended her to be an IAF officer because of her performance. She will be trained by Air Force training agencies before going on duty.
Vijay Kumar, a private employee of Babu Camp in the Coal Belt City, thanked Telangana Social Welfare Residential Education Institutions Society Secretary Dr RS Praveen Kumar and Director of TSWRAFPDC Major Usha Sarma and other teachers. He said his daughter graduated from graduate college after completing her interim studies at a private college in Hyderabad. She completed her schooling in the town of Bellampalli.
The residents of the city were all praising Chamundeshwari for her achievement. Gajelli Chandrasekhar, a resident, believes she brings recognition to the city and the district by excelling in the AFCAT. He hoped other girls would get inspiration from her pit and greater accomplishments.
Meanwhile, Dr RS Praveen Kumar shared the girl’s success on his Twitter handle and congratulated her. He said she had written a history of cleaning up the AFCAT and had been selected to become an IAF officer from the Telangana residential social welfare schools.
