Etawah, Apr 10 (UNI) At least 11 people were killed while 35 injured when a mini-truck overloaded with passengers lost control and rolled down into a gorge in Badapur area here on Saturday evening.
The mini-truck, overloaded with over 54 people and going to the Kalka Devi temple in the Lajhna area from Pinhat village of Agra, fell 25-feet down the road at Chakranagar-Udi road, near Kasaoua at around 1700 hrs, as the driver lost control of the vehicle, SSP Dr Brajesh Kumar Singh said.
In the mishap, 11 people died on the spot, while 10 among the 35 injured, are stated to be under critical condition.
The deceased have been identified as Banwari, Mahesh, Lallu, Rajesh, Rajendra,Gulab Singh, Manoj, Kishan, Hakim Singh, Guddu and Ramdas.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the accident and announced an ex gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh each to the family of the deceased.
Mr Adityanath asked the officials to provide adequate treatment to the injured people.
