New Delhi: Former Indian batsman Virender Sehwag said the Indian Premier League (IPL) logo was secretly designed for South African batsman AB de Villiers.
Sehwag’s remark comes when the Proteas batsman played a 48-run knockout of just 27 balls with the help of four 4s and two 6s to help Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeat Mumbai Indians by two wickets in the tournament Friday here at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
“Will power = De Villiers Power. Defeat all power. No wonder the @ IPL logo was secretly designed after @ ABdeVilliers17. Champion knocks. But Patel Bhai ke raaz mein, RCB boul mazaa aaya. Top game 5/27. Is hall cup nights, no vaandey. #RCBvsMI, ”tweeted Sehwag.
AB de Villiers came on in the 13th over when RCB chased 160 for the win. Virat Kohli was already back in the hut and de Villiers also saw Glenn Maxwell and Shahbaz Ahmed leave quickly in succession. However, De Villiers maintained its own enforcement to help RCB stay at the asking rate.
The Proteas batsman came out on top in the last over, but RCB were able to secure a victory in the final over the innings.
Harshal Patel delivered a beautiful bowling performance in front of AB de Villiers’ master class when RCB defeated Mumbai Indians by two wickets. Harshal picked up five wickets (three in the last over) to limit Mumbai Indians to 159 runs in the allotted 20 overs and consequently became the first bowler in the IPL against Mumbai Indians.
In response, RCB got on the last ball, thanks to the fine hit of de Villiers in the death row. For RCB, Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers played beats of 39 and 48 respectively. The captain, Virat Kohli, also played a 33-run run of 29 balls.
