RAJKOT: Chief minister Vijay Rupani on Friday admitted that shortage of vials had resulted in decrease in daily vaccinations over the last four days, but did a volte face within minutes of his deputy Nitin Patel’s nudge and said government had received 15 lakh doses of vaccines in past three days.
“Vaccines are in short supply, so vaccination has decreased. As soon as we get more doses of vaccine, inoculations will be expedited,” he first said.
However, after the DyCM drew Rupani’s attention to another statement, the CM revised his stance and said, “We got 15 lakh doses of vaccines in past three days, so there is no shortage. Gujarat is at the number one position in vaccination in India.” Rupani and Patel visited Morbi and Rajkot to take stock of the Covid-19-situation.
Asked about the pain of waiting outside hospitals for admission, he said, “As the number of tests have increased, the number of patients too have risen and there are limited beds available. So, we have no option currently but to admit patients as soon as beds get vacated.”
