CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh health department will intensify Covid-19 vaccination drive by reaching out to the community, including offices, RWAs etc. The programme will commence from April 11 for eligible beneficiaries i.e. 45 years of age and above.
This initiative is ‘vaccine festival’ or ‘tika utsav’, a call given by the PM on Thursday. This will be held between April 11 and April 14 in order to inoculate maximum number of eligible beneficiaries.
“Even after April 14, we will continue with the campaign,” said director health services, DHS, UT, Dr Amandeep Kang.
However, only those offices or areas will be approved, which have proper ventilation, spacious three rooms etc. In addition to this, organisations with minimum 100 beneficiaries, who give consent, will be allowed. Also, the final approval will be given by the deputy commissioner.
“We will have one session each at these sites for a day from April 11 onwards between 9 am and 5 pm. These will be in addition to the already functional sites at government as well as private hospitals,” said the DHS. “We will need basic facilities like a good internet connection, ventilated and spacious three rooms for waiting, toilets, water cooler etc. In case, there are less than 100 beneficiaries, we will not visit such place,” said Dr Kang.
The health department will visit three sites a day. The office visits will be on weekdays.
The city has 55 sites, which has 35 government facilities and 20 private hospitals. A total of 1,09,597 beneficiaries have been vaccinated till date. The first drive started from January 16 this year.
