Forces are now under EC, not under MHA, says Shah

KOLKATA: “Never in my political career did I come across such remarks against Central forces from a chief minister or a party chief,” said Union home minister Amit Shah on Friday, hitting back at West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, a day after she alleged these forces were intimidating voters ahead of polls under the instructions of MHA.
Shah also said that the Bengal CM did not want peaceful polls.
“Confront them, mob them… what kind of remarks are these? Is she leading people to anarchy? Or, does she want to rig the polls?” the Union home minister said here on Friday.
Shah tore into the Bengal CM’s belligerence over allegations of Central forces working under MHA’s instructions. “As a CM, Mamata didi should know that CAPF isn’t placed under the MHA now. They are now under the EEEC,” said Shah.
Residents greeted Shah with ‘Bharat mata ki jai’, ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans as the Union home minister, along with BJP candidate from Bhawanipore Rudranil Ghosh and party leader Swapan Dasgupta, walked through the dingy lanes after holding a roadshow.
Some women blew conch shells, few showered flower petals on him while Shah distributed BJP ‘sankalpa patra’ among the people. “Didi, kamal ko vote dena hyay (vote for lotus),” Shah said to woman who honoured him with a uttariya.
